Where there is a reluctance to accept the existence of bullying (a few head teachers are still reluctant to develop anti-bullying policies because 'it is not a problem' in their schools) a questionnaire survey can help establish the true picture and motivate action. It can also help to involve members of the school community who might not normally see bullying as falling within their area of responsibility, for example, teachers with expertise in maths or computing can help to analyse the results of such a survey.
