The Anti-Bullying Network Annual Conference
Menzies Belford Hotel, Edinburgh, Thursday 15th May 2008
The title of the conference will be 'Anti-Bullying and Child Protection: have we gone too far?'.

Keynote speaker on the day will be Tim Gill, author of 'No Fear: growing up in a risk averse society'. Tim believes that children have the potential to be more resilient, capable, creative and able to learn than we give them credit for.  Yet their lives are becoming ever more scheduled, controlled and directed.

Peer Support in Schools PublicationPeer Support in Schools Publication
New publication launched - all schools in Scotland are being sent a free handbook by the Anti-Bullying Network. The resource aims to help schools develop peer support schemes which the ABN's Andrew Mellor believes should be a key element in any approach to bullying.

Restorative Practices in Education
In 2004, as part of the ‘Better Behaviour, Better Learning’ Initiative, funding was provided for a two-year pilot project on Restorative Practices (RP) in schools within 3 Scottish Local Authorities – Fife, Highland and North Lanarkshire. The evaluation of this pilot is shortly to be published by the University of Edinburgh.
This one-day conference offers participants an opportunity to learn from successful practice in the pilot schools and from elsewhere in Scotland.
